Obituary of James D. Boyer, Sr.

James D. Boyer Sr (Jim) age 57, of Wallingford, PA, died peacefully at home, Thursday May 25, 2023 surround by family. A graduate of Strath Haven High School, as the First Class of 1984, he later attended the Chubb Institute, graduating Technical Training in 1997. In 1997 Jim began his career with Suburban Cable (Comcast Cable) as a technician. Saturday, April 15, 2023, he retired from the Lineman’s position with Comcast Cable.

Jim is predeceased by his father, David T. Boyer, Sr.

He is survived by his high school sweet heart, Irene Boyer, of 41 years just after celebrating 36 years of marriage. Jim is also survived by his mother Margaret, Sister Dawn (Todd Bartley), Brother David (Sheri), Sister Sue (Wesley McMullen), Son James D. Boyer Jr (Lauren), Grandchildren Riley, James D. Boyer III, Catalina, Shawn and Karlee, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Those who have had the honor of knowing Jim would describe him as Kind, Caring, Generous, Compassionate and a staple to the community. He has dedicated over 25 years of service to the Garden City Fire Company #65 where he wore many hats, his favorite being an Engineer. Jim enjoyed spending many Sundays at the fire house working on maintaining the trucks that serve his community and responding to the sound of the whistle to help those in need. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed working on cars and rebuilding houses with his son and spending time with his grandkids.

Each Christmas, the halls were decked and the yard lit up with a display only children can dream of. The largest most round fresh cut Christmas tree stood at attention in the middle of the living room, so round you could hardly walk around it. Jim’s true passion was fishing. He enjoyed frequent fishing trips to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina with his son and a few close friends. As long as he had a line in the water, he was a happy fisherman. Even if it meant his grand kids buzzing around him and occasionally falling in. Most spring, summer, and fall weekends were spent at the camp ground, Indian Acres of the Chesapeake, with his family. He dreamed of retirement, fixing his boat and enjoying life by the water.

Jim has such a pure soul and wholesome personality. He has a smile that could light up any room. There are no words that could capture the entirety of how amazing he is. Many looked to him for his guidance, support and calm words. Others looked to him for a laugh and a good time. All of our hearts are breaking and he is taking bits and pieces with him as he joins his loved ones he has missed so dearly for so long.
