David G. Ives, age 86 a lifelong resident of Wallingford, PA, died on Monday, November 27, 2023. Dave was a 1955 graduate of Nether Providence High School in Wallingford where he participated in band, orchestra, photography. His yearbook stated he had one of the “best personalities of the classmates” and was the “nicest boy in the Senior class”.
Dave joined the United States Navy where he served for 8 years active duty and 3 years in reserve. He received an Honorable Discharge in April, 1963.
Dave loved his home in Wallingford but also enjoyed spending time “down on the Chesapeake” where he spent his time relaxing and fishing. He once caught a marlin but couldn’t bear to bring it in so he let it go.
One of Dave’s hobbies when he was younger was piloting small aircraft. He enjoyed “buzzing over” his house to let the neighbors know he was passing by. Another hobby was operating a ham radio from the second story of his home. His handle was XXXXXX – “73” (best regards), Dave!
Dave really enjoyed sports. He loved bowling and participated in a bowling league and when a Phillies game was on, you could always find Dave in front of the tv routing for a win.
Dave is predeceased by his parents, George Delaware and Martha (Dils) Ives with whom he lived until their passing in the 1970’s, and his brother, Barry Dils Ives, an aerospace engineer, who lived in California.
He is survived by his long-time friend, Janet Twaddell.
