Obituary of Carole S. Lewis

 

Carole Smith Lewis, age 79, died on Friday, March 1, 2024. Carole was born and raised in Delaware County, PA. She graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1962. She furthered her education with a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph University and a master's degree from Widener University.

Carole was a dedicated teacher for 20 years at Avon Grove High School. She was the creator of the school spirit mascot.  Carole was active in sports, playing and coaching basketball and volleyball.  She was instrumental in introducing girls’ sports at St. Joseph Elementary School in Aston, PA.

Carole was a parishioner of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, and was active in the FOST group and rosary prayer group.  She was a member of the Rocky Run knitting club.

Carole enjoyed spending her summers at the New Jersey and Delaware Beaches with her grandchildren and extended family members.

Daughter of the late James H. and Marie G. (Zimath) Smith, Sr., Sister of the late James Smith and Michael Smith.

Carole was married to Samuel Lewis for 56 years and was the proud mother of Jacqui (Tim) Lewis Morris and Craig Lewis.

Also survived by nieces and nephews

Visitation: Thursday, March 7th  from 10:00-11:15AM at the Church of Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA 19015.

Funeral Mass: Thursday, March 7th at 11:30AM at the Church of Our Lady of Charity. 

Interment: St. Thomas the Apostle Churchyard.
