Obituary of Eugenia M. Dolar
Eugenia Mary Dolar (Gruszka) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at home in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania on the morning of September 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Genia, as she was called by many, was born on July 16, 1930, in Chester, Pennsylvania and lived in Wilmington, Delaware most of her life. She was the daughter of Frank Gruszka and Angeline Gruszka (Jurkowski). She was preceded in death by her brother Frank Gruszka.
She attended Saint Hedwigs School and graduated from Temple University Medical Center. She worked as a laboratory technician for over 25 years. Her continued education was extensive throughout her career and eventually she became a supervisor where she was well respected.
Baci, a nickname given by the grandchildren and used by most who knew her, was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devout Catholic who was always praying for others. She enjoyed playing solitaire on her laptop and loved playing bingo with her friends. Baci loved her kitchen. She was an excellent cook and was known for her sweet babka bread and nalesniki.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Marie Bates (Randolph), six grandchildren, Angela Bates- Majewski (Michael), William Bates (Margaret), Kathryn Minacci (Trevor), Veronica Brown (Matthew), Benjamin Bates (Nicole), and Diana Knight (Chris), and 19 great-grandchildren Charles, Max, Claire, Brooke, Jenna, Brad, Derek, Taylor, Rebecca, Dylan, Aubrey, Luke, Blake, Bentley, Nicolette, Savannah, Delaney, Macklin, and Jaydin.
Visitation: Thursday, October 3rd, from 9:00-10:45AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Funeral Mass: Thursday, October 3rd at 11:30AM at the Church of Saints Simon and Jude, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA, 19382.
Interment: Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery.
