Obituary of Janice S. Kerr

Janice S. Kerr (nee Smeby), of Aston, PA, died on Sunday, September 30, 2012. She was born at Taylor Hospital, in Ridley Park, PA, on June 23, 1934. Janice had a successful career in Medical Administration, including managing a Cardiac Surgeon's office at Bryn Mawr Hospital for many years, until her retirement in 1996. In 1984, she married her husband of 28 years, Harry Kerr. After her retirement, Jan and Harry enjoyed many great vacations, including driving by motorcar from Pennsylvania to Fairbanks, Alaska for a 2 month long adventure. After their trip to Alaska, Jan founded her true passion, "The Merrimaker Clown Ministry," that provided clowning for the benefit of patients in hospitals, nursing homes and children in schools. Using her clown name, "Jaepers", Jan regularly visited the A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE and brought heartfelt smiles and an abundance of love to many people in need. Jan's efforts in founding and fostering the growth of "The Merrimakers" so impressed the community, that she was recognized by Delaware Governor, Ruth Minner in 2008 with a Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Award.
