Obituary of Edward J. McCormick

Edward J. McCormick, 87, a long-time resident of Delaware County, died January 7, 2013. Mr. McCormick was born June 21, 1925, in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Northeast Philadelphia, PA. In 1955 he moved to Delaware County, living in Swarthmore, Brookhaven, Wallingford and Media, PA. His last 2 years were spent at Harlee Manor Nursing Home in Springfield, PA. Mr. McCormick was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. After serving in the Navy, Ed began a career in commercial art, starting as a sign painter in the 40's and then spending many years in the display and publishing business. Ed considered himself a "jack of all trades" and this proved to be his ticket to success in commercial art. He retired in 1996, as Art Director of Clement Communications in Concordville, PA. Ed had built a successful and interesting career that allowed him to tap into his many artistic talents. He won many art awards for his designs and earned U.S. patents for display systems. Ed's passion in life was dancing. He went to his first dance in the eighth grade and was instantly captivated. Dancing became his major source of enjoyment in retirement and he spent many a happy evening dancing with Dottie at various spots around town. Ed had the gift of creativity and along with being a successful artist, he also loved to write. His memoirs were published under the title "Through Daddy's Eyes:" A Memoir which contains stories of his early years and essays on various topics. Mr. McCormick was the husband of 62 years to the late Jeanne McCormick. Survivors He will be sadly missed by his companion Dottie Kelley; His four children: Edward J. McCormick, Jr. of Spencer, NY, Joseph McCormick of Media, PA, Eileen Talbett Rosenthal of Milton, DE and Nancy Goldfeder of Wilmington, DE; Sisters: Marie Weniger and Joan Trimber; Nine Grandchildren: Edward McCormick, III, Jennifer Loukedis, Emily Harkins, Justin Collier, Kelsie McCormick, Dennis Talbett, Monica Talbett, Lucas Solomon and Holly Goldfeder and Seven Great-Grandchildren Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Edward McCormick to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Phila., PA 19106.
