Obituary of Margaret H. Statter

Margaret H. McDermott Statter,"Peggy", died Thursday, September 26, 2013. Peggy was raised in Chester, PA, and was a resident of Brookhaven, PA for 50 years, before residing in Wallingford, PA, for the last 13 years. Peg was a 1942 graduate of St. Michael's School, Chester, PA, a 1946 graduate of Notre Dame HS, Moylan, PA, and a 1949 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing, Wilmington, DE. Peggy worked with Crozer Chester Medical Center for 43 years, retiring as a RN/Clinical Coordinator in 1991. Mrs. Statter was a devoted parishioner of The Church of Our Lady of Charity, Brookhaven, PA., where she was a board member of the Charitians. Peg volunteered in the RSVP Program reading to school children at OLC and Parkside Elementary schools. Peggy was the ALWAYS optimist, and NEVER failed to find the silver lining of ANY situation. To those who knew her, she was a bright light in their life. She loved to laugh, hard and often, to learn every day, and was always ready to try something new. After she retired, Peggy took classes in a variety of different things including acupressure, quilting and drawing. She was a real people person, and loved new technology especially her cell phone and facebook. With a love of travel, Peggy went to over 10 countries in her retirement. She was the ultimate adventurer, and in her eighties decided it was time to try jet skiing, 4 wheeling, tubing and kayaking. She hiked to the magical fairy pools of the Scottish Highlands in May, visited Florida in June, Atlanta in July and went to Illinois for her grandson's wedding in August. She traveled to the beach last week to get her feet in the water and her face in the breeze. Peggy, and her late husband, Fred J. Statter, enjoyed a lifelong marriage, until his death in 1997. She was the daughter of Scottish born parents the late William G. and Elizabeth (Monaghan) McDermott.
