Obituary of Wayland Gillingham
Wayland G. "Gil" Gillingham, age 85, a longtime resident of Parkside, PA, passed away at his home on February 16, 2014.
He was born at the Crozer Theological Seminary, Upland, PA, son of the late faculty member Rev. Frank T. Gillingham and Elizabeth Ems Gillingham. He graduated from Chester High School, Class of 1946. He also was an alumnus of Drexel University and Neumann University. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He retired after 44 years from Boeing Vertol, as a field service engineer, having started there when it was called Piasecki Helicopter.
Gil was preceded in death by brothers Bagley Gillingham and Col. Rowley Gillingham (USAF). He is survived by Betty Jane, his wife of 61 years; sister Betty Heller (Robert) of DeLand, FL; his children Wayland, Jr. (Linda) of Lancaster, PA and Kim of Collegeville, PA; his grandchildren Christine Nelson (Rev. Kevin) of Hamden, CT, and Matthew of Tokyo, Japan; two great grandchildren; niece Barbara Will and nephew Richard Gillingham of Bear, DE
