Obituary of Doris M. Thompson

Doris M. "Bunny" (Carmichael) Thompson, a resident of Parkside, PA for more than 50 years, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Mrs. Thompson was born in Chester, PA, to the late Evert and Betty Carmichael. She was a graduate of Chester High School and Sleeper Business College. Mrs. Thompson worked with the Fidelity Bank, Chester, PA as a Secretary for 23 years, until her retirement in 1981. After graduating from Sleeper Business College, she previously worked with Speare Brothers, Chester, PA, as a Secretary. Mrs. Thompson was an active member of Upland Baptist Church. Previously, she was an active member of Brookhaven Baptist Church (formerly South Chester Baptist Church) for 77 years, until the church closed in May 2007. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Clerk; Chairwoman of the Board of Deaconess and Secretary/Treasurer of the Mission Circle. Mrs. Thompson was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Parkside Little League, Chester Suburban Teenier League and the Senior Group "The Charitians" at Our Lady of Charity Church, serving as Assistant Financial Secretary. She served as Den Mother for the Cub Scouts in Parkside, PA and was President of the Parent Teachers Association in Parkside School. Mrs. Thompson was a woman of faith and a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Allen and vacations with the family in Ocean City, NJ. Mrs. Thompson lost her beloved husband, Allen, who died December 2008, after 67 years of marriage; also predeceased by her sister Alice Campbell and brother Bill Carmichael.
