Obituary of William M. Mack

1927-2015 William M. Mack (Bill) (Pop), age 87, a 53 year resident of Aston, PA, died peacefully at home Tuesday, September 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Gilberton, PA. In 1939, his family moved to West Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1946. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in 1946 with the occupation forces in the Philippines, where he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Upon his return, he attended Temple University, which lead to the start of his businesses – The Old Chimney Sweep / Grate Fireplace Woodstove and Accessories. He was actively involved in running his businesses, until he retired in 2011. Bill was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Aston, PA. He served as a Scout Master with Troop #457 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, and with Troop #223 at Mt Hope UM Church. Lovingly known as Pop-Pop, he enjoyed the times spent with family, especially his grandchildren. Bill was the son of the late Michael and Millie Makowski. He was predeceased by his sisters Marion, Helen, Michaelina and Leona. Survivors: Wife of 57 years: Elsie L. (Bogert) Mack Daughters: Julie Ferreri (Larry), Linda Mack Kaufmann (Joel), Alicia Mack Wieder (Rob) and Rebecca Mack Sons: William M. Mack, II (Carrie), James Mack (Lisa) and Michael Mack Grandchildren: Nicholas, Kristin, and Ashley Ferreri, Robert and Daniel Kaufmann, John and Kaitlyn Wieder, William III and Lauren Mack, James and Rebecca Mack, Brian and Christopher Donaldson, Rebecca Mack-Weber, Danielle Shaw (Nathan), Michelle, Jacqueline and Michael Mack II Great Grandchildren: Lennon, Alex (AJ) and Bentley Sister: Alice M.
