Obituary of Josephine C. Knob

Josephine Knob Homemaker/Businesswoman Josephine Knob (nee Nordo) passed into eternal rest Sunday, January 24th. Mrs. Knob was born in Philadelphia in 1933, the daughter of Margaret and Rocco Nordo. A graduate of South Philadelphia High School for Girls, and bi-lingual in Italian from an early age, she won a city wide competition for fluency and G.P.A. in that language in 1950. She was blessed with a powerful operatic soprano voice. In 1959, she married Fred R Knob, a marriage that produced sons Christopher and Stephen. For much of the next 30 years, Mrs. Knob was the ideal suburban mother and homemaker passionate about raising her children and providing for her family. In the late 1980s, she turned her talents and energies to the business world, co-founding the Wooden Knob Antiques in Chadds Ford, PA. Her gift for creating dazzling floral arrangements was always on display at the store. Her talents extended to the culinary arts as well when she established a successful biscotti baking business selling the popular Italian confection at craft shows in the Delaware Valley. Mrs. Knob is survived by her husband of 56 years, Fred (1930), sons Christopher (1960) and Stephen (1962), grandson Joshua (1988), sisters Nancy Fala and Julia McCarthy and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass: Friday, 11:00 AM at The Church of Nativity BVM, 30 E. Franklin Street, Media, PA. Visitation: Friday after 10:00 AM at the church. Interment: Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
