Obituary of Margaretta Laura Smiley

1950-2016 Margaretta Laura "Polly" Smiley (nee Bailey), age 65, of Coatesville, formerly of Upland and West Palm Beach, Florida, died Thursday, February 25, after a long illness. Polly was a champion roller figure skater with her husband, Roger, who she married in 1972. She was an avid reader and excellent cook who loved the beach and her family's shore home in Tuckahoe, NJ. A 1968 graduate of Ridley H.S., she worked as a supervisor for Delaware County CYS for many years and later retired from State Farm Insurance in 2010. A devoted wife and mother, Polly's greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Survived by children Christopher Smiley (Jennifer), Coatesville; Sandra Powers (Mark), Florida. Grandchildren Christopher, Benjamin and Lila Smiley; Samantha and Brandon Powers; Andrew Oliver. Brother James Bailey (Ruthann), Delaware. Sisters Louise Boseman (Joe), Delaware; Elizabeth Funk (Barry), Essington; Debra Funk (Jerry), Upland; Cynthia Willoughby (Dan), North Carolina; Kathy Winnemore (Keith), Parkside. Numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Roger Lee Smiley; parents, William S. Bailey and Ilah Mae Louise (Carroll) Bailey; brother William Bailey; sisters Willametta Graham; Janice Dame; Bonnie Long. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, Ridley Park United Methodist Church, 501 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078.
