Obituary of Geraldine Simpson

1930-2016 Geraldine "Jerry" Simpson (nee Hampton) of Aston, PA and Ft. Myers, FL, passed away Saturday, March 19th, surrounded by her loving family. Geraldine is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Thomas W. Simpson Jr. (originally of Darby, PA.), Her Children: Robin of NJ, Thomas W. III (Karen) of Boothwyn, PA, and Debra (Barry) Metz of West Chester, PA, Granddaughters: Heather (Matthew) Sommer of Texas and Rachel Simpson of Boothwyn, PA. Also survived by her sister, Helen V. Martin (nee Hampton) of NJ, and many nephews, nieces, and friends. Predeceased by her parents: John C. and Helen (Rothenberger) Hampton of York, PA, brothers: John C. (Diane) Hampton Jr. of Milton, PA, Richard B.(Bonnie) Hampton of Wellsville, PA, and brother-in-law Frederick H. Martin Sr. of Camden, NJ. Geraldine was born in Camden, NJ and grew up in York, PA. She attended West Chester College, where she met her adoring husband, Tom, at a dance. Tom said she was the best dancer there, and he picked her out! After raising their family, she returned to finish her degree in 1968. Mrs. Simpson enjoyed teaching hundreds of second and third grade children in Penn Delco's Coebourn Elementary. She always enjoyed meeting her 'kids' long after they had families of their own. An avid reader and sports fan, she was knowledgeable about any sport, except golf. She enjoyed being a member of the Aston Historical Society and traveling the world with her husband whenever she could. An active member of the Pennsylvania Federated Woman's Club of Aston and Aston Lioness Club, she held various offices in those clubs. A founding member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Aston, she enjoyed attending when she was able. Jerry was honored to have received The Four Chaplains Award, whose 'Memorial Foundation's vision is to impart the principles of selfless service to humanity without regard to race, creed, ethnicity, or religious beliefs.' Memorial Service: Saturday at 11:00AM at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, 535 Lamp Post Lane, Aston, PA 19014 Visitation: Saturday after 10:00AM at the church Interment: Private In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
