Obituary of Odessa Kearse-Cheers
The family of Odessa "Deana" Kearse is most grateful to God for having loaned her to us to enliven, enrich, enhance and brighten the lives of all those who knew her.
Odessa "Deana" Kearse was born in Miley, South Carolina to the late Boise Kearse and Helen Rich Kearse, on November 25, 1934. She was the first of eight children born to this union. She was educated in the Hampton South Carolina Public School System. Her family moved to Philadelphia, PA in the early 1950's. Upon arriving to Philadelphia, her first job was in retail sales at an exclusive dress boutique on Fourth Street, in South Philadelphia. She worked there for a number of years before becoming employed by the Philadelphia Health Care System becoming employed with the old Children's Hospital on 8th Street in Philadelphia, PA. Her great interest in helping others took her to the Riddle Memorial Hospital, where she worked for nearly thirty years, until her transition to eternal rest with The Creator, on Thursday, May 12, 2016.
"Deana" had great Love for her Family and her Southern Roots; so much so, that she and her siblings regularly travelled to their collectively obtained South Carolina Estate to intermingle and visit with various family members and friends. Coincidentally enough, "Deana" and her "Baby Sister" Ruth, just recently returned north after spending two (2) weeks at their Southern home.
"Deana" enjoyed Cooking, Shopping, Travelling and most of all, working at Riddle Memorial Hospital. In 1987, "Deana" and Randy left Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to Media, Pennsylvania, where she continued to reside until her passing.
She was preceded to Heaven by her Parents, Bois and Helen Kearse, her loving sister, Mary Kearse-Maloney, and three (3) brothers; Arte Kearse, Bennie Kearse, and Johnnie Kearse.
She leaves to Cherish Her Memory, Her Faithful Life Partner, Randolph Cheers, two (2) brothers, Carlise (Gloria) Kearse of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Leon (Nadine) Kearse of San Diego, California, and Her "Baby Sister" Ruth Kearse-Pearson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a large number of Nieces and Nephews, Hundreds of Relatives and many, many friends and associates.
