Condolences
I worked with Shirley in the United Sate Probation Office in Philadelphia. She was a bright light in the office. She was kind, caring and very competent. I am so grateful to have known her. May God's grace comfort the family and her many friends.
My prayers go out to the family, Shirley was such a dear sweet friend, RIP my 73 classmate.
To the Powell family: my heart is heavy to hear of Shirley’s passing. I have so many sweet memories of our families together, so many days and evenings spent in your house and neighborhood when your Mom and my parents were still with us. I have much respect for Shirley—and all of you— for the people you’ve grown to be. Your Mom did an amazing job…she’d be proud. Feel my prayers and the Lords peace as you grieve. Love, Debbie Decesare Knowles
To the Powell family, my sincere condolences. Even though I had not seen Shirley in a really long time, I always considered her to be one of my oldest and dearest friend. I grew up just down the street from her childhood home in Chester and went to Smedley and Chester High with her. I was just so saddened when I saw that Shirley had passed. Please accept my heartfelt thoughts and prayers.
Scott and family...so sorry for your loss; will keep you in my prayers.
Shirley you supported me anytime I needed it and asked for prayers. You were a warrior yourself and you reached out to me many times on messenger to encourge me after my husband passed. Ease know you touched many hearts. I will miss you and your comments and strength. Love to all your family y'all are in my prayers.
So long, old friend. You were the sensible one in our group through our teen years. We shared some truly great times. It was great to reconnect later in life on FB and at Donna Lou's party. Love you, Shirley! Condolences to Shirley's family. Met many of you when the gang use to sit out on your front porch.
Damn, Shirley. I'm so sad to hear of your passing. We didn't know each other well, except on Facebook. I'm gonna miss your wry sense of humor and indomitable spirit. I remember getting a kitten and not being sure of the gender, wasn't sure what to name it George or Georgette. You said, " Call it Georgie, gender neutral. " My condolences to your family and friends. I'm gonna miss you, sweetheart.
Condolences and prayers to the family. Shirley was my friend growing up together in Chester, and working together at US Probation. Rest in Peace my friend, you will be missed.

My condolences to the family. Shirley and I met while working at Chester Central Courts back in 1975. I moved away out of state and we lost contact for over 40 years. One day a few years ago Shirley was on Facebook and she saw my picture and we reconnected what a blessing. Shirley and I took our first girls vacation together we had a blast and that’s how I’ll always remember her. RIP my sister. Love and will miss our friendship.
Sad to learn of her passing. We were close friends all throughout junior and senior high and then weaved in and out of each other's lives as the years passed with, sadly, little contact over the last few.
She was special in many ways, bright, passionate, funny, and even though we drifted apart my memories of her span the distance.
Thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
My condolences and prayers of comfort to Shirley's family. Shirley was a very kind person and had caring soul for others
When we were in class it was Shirley, Billy and I, we always had so much fun, I recently found Shirley on Facebook and I was trying to talk her to going to our 50th reunion. I'm going to miss my friend.RIP
She was my best friend on Facebook. I had no idea this would happen. My condolences to all of her family members. I am so sorry for your loss.
ELEGY (another word for eulogy) - by an unknown author
Do not stand at my grave and weep –
I am not there…I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow…
I am the diamond’s glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain…
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry -
I am not there….I did not die.
