I got to know Paula when she came to work at New City Elementary School as our School Librarian. In this role, Paula got to know every child in our school. She met all classes to teach how to use a library and to instill a love for literature. Our library became the hub for research. Paula was the driving force to move us from using a card catalog to a computerized library system. She worked closely with classroom teachers to support their classroom lessons. My thoughts go out to her entire family.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Paula’s passing. In the 1950s and 1960s, we 10 Breen kids grew up with Paula in South Cheverly Forest and attended St. Ambrose School. Her parents were educators so it is not a surprise that Paula an only child grew up with books to read, a passion for the library, and as an educator, a strong desire to change kids lives for the better. She did all things in a super way. I had no idea of Paula’s passion for gardening but it certainly served as a compliment to her many achievements in life including being a mother to three beautiful young ladies and later in life Nanny. Well done, Paula.
