Obituary of James F. Standish

James Frederick Standish, Jr., August 28, 1937 - April 10, 2012, James "Jim" Frederick Standish, Jr., a son given by the Lord to James F. and Hazel (Lake) Standish, was born at Steubenville, Ohio on August 28, 1937, and died at Crozer-Chester Medical Center on April 10, 2012. The span of his earthly pilgrimage was 74 years, 7 months and 13 days. In September 1960, Jim married Nancy L. Getz who survives. Together, for more than 51 years, they experienced the changing scenes of life in the joyous and fruitful companionship, which the Lord had entrusted to them. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Nancy. SURVIVORS Wife of more than 51 years, Nancy Getz Standish Daughters: Sheri (Doug) Jeffries of Gardiner, NY and Tracy (Danny) Mason of Richmond, VA Son: James F. Standish, III of Glen Mills, PA Remembered and loved by 7 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild Brothers: Thomas R. Standish of Grove City, OH, Howard E. Standish of Tempe, AZ and Donald A. Standish of Allentown, PA Predeceased by his brothers: William F. Standish and C. Robert Standish Jim was a graduate of the University of Toledo, Toledo, OH and pursued post-graduate courses at the University of Pittsburgh. His early professional career began with Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, PA. He left Pittsburgh in 1973 and joined Third Age, Inc., Exton, PA a professional consulting firm where he held the position of President and Principal from 1989 until the company was sold in 2009. He had currently been working with Larson Allen of Blue Bell, PA as an independent, private consultant. Jim was a member of Middletown Presbyterian Church, Elwyn, PA where he served as an Elder and in several Committee capacities. He was also a Mason having served as Master of George Bartram-Paul Sand Lodge #298, and as a member of the Chester Royal Arch Chapter #258, the Riblah Council #59 of Royal and Select Master Masons, the Pennsylvania Lodge of Research, Free and Accepted Masons, and the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Philadelphia. He also served on the Committee of the Academy of Masonic Knowledge and as a member of the Committee on Masonic Homes of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, Free and Accepted Masons.
